Description

Rainclad is a high-performance, non-combustible stone wool insulation board designed for use in ventilated external cladding and rainscreen facade systems. Manufactured from natural volcanic basalt rock, it delivers exceptional thermal, acoustic, and fire-resistant performance for modern building envelopes.

With a declared thermal conductivity of λ = 0.035 W/mK and a nominal density of 60 kg/m³, Rainclad provides efficient thermal insulation while significantly reducing heat loss and energy consumption through external walls. Its fibrous mineral wool structure also enhances sound absorption, improving acoustic comfort within buildings, -(55-62)dB.

Rainclad is classified as Euroclass A1 (non-combustible), making it suitable for use in compliant facade systems on buildings of any height, including those over 18 metres in accordance with UK Building Regulations.

The boards are treated with a factory-applied hydrophobic agent, which helps resist water absorption during construction and temporary exposure, while still maintaining vapour permeability within the building envelope. This ensures long-term durability and moisture control without compromising performance.

Designed for versatility and reliability, Rainclad is ideal for high-performance external wall applications where fire safety, thermal efficiency, and acoustic control are essential.

Typical applications

  • Ventilated rainscreen facade systems
  • Aluminium, steel and composite panel cladding systems
  • Terracotta, ceramic and stone facade systems
  • Fibre cement cladding systems
  • Brick slip and lightweight facade systems
  • Open joint and closed joint facade systems
  • Residential and commercial developments, including high-rise buildings
  • New build and facade refurbishment projects

Advantages

  • Non-combustible Euroclass A1 fire rating
  • Suitable for buildings over 18 m height
  • High thermal performance, λ = 0.035 W/mK
  • Excellent acoustic absorption
  • Breathable open-cell structure allows water vapour to pass through
  • Factory-applied hydrophobic treatment resists water ingress during construction
  • Specifically balanced density reduces the number of fixings required
  • Random fibre orientation allows easy fitting around brackets for continuous thermal performance
