Description

Dimclad is a high-performance, non-combustible stone wool insulation board specifically engineered for use in open joint and shadow gap rainscreen facade systems, where the insulation layer may be partially visible through facade joints.

Manufactured from natural volcanic basalt rock, Dimclad combines excellent thermal, fire-resistant, and acoustic properties with a durable black mineral fibre tissue facing. This facing delivers a consistent, uniform dark appearance behind open facades, enhancing the visual quality of ventilated cladding systems where panel gaps expose the insulation layer.

The black tissue facing also provides improved resistance to UV exposure, wind-driven rain, and moisture ingress, helping to maintain long-term facade performance without degradation. The boards also incorporate a factory-applied hydrophobic treatment that reduces water absorption during installation while preserving vapour permeability within the wall build-up.

With a nominal density of 60 kg/m³ and a declared thermal conductivity of λ = 0.039 W/mK, Dimclad delivers reliable thermal insulation performance alongside effective acoustic absorption and fire protection.

Dimclad is classified as Euroclass A1 (non-combustible) and is suitable for use in buildings of all heights, including high-rise developments, in accordance with UK Building Regulations.

Typical applications

  • Open joint and shadow gap facade systems
  • Architectural facade designs with visible insulation layers
  • Ventilated rainscreen facade systems with exposed insulation zones
  • High-rise residential and commercial developments
  • Facade systems requiring enhanced visual consistency behind open joints

Advantages

  • Non-combustible Euroclass A1 fire rating
  • Suitable for buildings of any height
  • Black tissue facing provides a clean, uniform dark appearance behind open facade joints
  • UV stable and wind-resistant tissue facing for long-term performance
  • High thermal and acoustic performance
  • Breathable open-cell structure allows water vapour to pass through
  • Factory-applied hydrophobic treatment reduces water ingress during construction
  • Balanced density reduces the number of fixings required
  • Random fibre orientation allows fitting around brackets for continuous thermal performance
